Mosiah 3:17 “And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.” – BC 124
Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
I came across the BoM verse last week while reading an LDS article we’ll look at another time. The reason we’re taking a look at this passage in Mosiah today is because of the numerous problems found in just one LDS verse.
In 30 AD the Apostle Peter boldly declared there is no salvation in any other name except for Jesus.
With that in mind our questions today are as follows –
1.How could someone c. BC 124 say the same thing 150+ years before Peter’s declaration in 30 AD?
2.Mormons don’t believe Jesus is omnipotent. We mentioned this in an article the other day when we said Jesus didn’t have power to save.
3.Christ is a title, not a name.
4.Mormons believe you can’t gain true salvation without being LDS so the verse in Mosiah is a lie. See D&C 1:30.
We’re asking for Christians to pray that members of the Church will stop to think about the contradictions they see in their own canon. Moreover, don’t forget to pray!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
Excellent points. Always in prayer for those lost people who don’t know the Bible. (I was one of them.) If they did…could they still believe Joe and Russ?
I have many times confronted Mormons with the BOM use of “Christ.” I ask why a Greek term for the Hebrew “Messiah” (English translation) is being used in a supposed “Reformed Egyptian” writing!
