May 15 — BoM Rewrites Introduced Necromancy. Isaiah 48:1 “Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.”

Writers of the Book of Mormon took it upon themselves to rewrite vast amounts of their beloved scripture. While Smith made several changes himself, I say writers because most of it was rewritten long after Joe Smith died in 1844.
Today we’re looking at how they perverted scripture in Isaiah in an attempt to prove that people were practicing baptisms for the dead during the OT era.
The following references show the progression of their changes. The first one is a plagiarism of Isaiah 48:1 —
1830 Book of Mormon, p. 52 “Hearken and hear this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.”

Revisions for this verse were done as early as 1837. They started baptisms for the dead 3 years later in June or August of 1840 depending on which report you read.
1 Nephi 20:1 “Hearken and hear this, O house of Jacob, who are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, or out of the waters of baptism, who swear by the name of the Lord, and make mention of the God of Israel, yet they swear not in truth nor in righteousness.”

Retro-fitting their canon does nothing but cause confusion for the Mormon people. The One that is never confused is God. He doesn’t approve of revising His perfect word, nor does He approve of baptisms for the dead. Proverbs 30:5, 1 Corinthians 15:29.
Keep in mind this is just one of the 5.200+ changes made to the ‘most perfect book ever written.
Please share this info with a Mormon and remind them that God’s perfect word never changes as it says in Isaiah 40:8!
