Journal of Discourses 12:344; “The great, powerful and populous city of New York, that may be considered one of the greatest cities of the world, will in a few years become a mass of ruins. The people will wonder while gazing on the ruins that cost hundreds of millions to build, what has become of its inhabitants, Their houses will be there, but they will be left desolate. So saith the Lord God.” – Orson Pratt, Salt Lake City, December 27, 1868
Romans 16:17-18; “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
False teachers and prophets have been around for a long, long time. It’s our job as Christians to dismantle their lies and warn the body of Christ about the impending dangers in believing these lies.
Orson Pratt, an apostle of the “only true church on the face of the earth, made that comment 145 yrs ago and New York is still around and still regarded as one of the greatest cities in the world! If Pratt had said such a thing in today’s day and age he’d have the FBI living on his doorstep.
