1 Nephi 12:18; “… the Messiah who is the Lamb of God, of whom the Holy Ghost beareth record…”
1830 BoM; “And Jesus Christ which is the Lamb of God”.
Hebrews 7:25; “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
The problem in today’s dilemma is twofold, but before we look at that let’s think for a moment about what the author says in Hebrews!
This has to be one of the most comforting verses any Christian could ever hope for! He saves us to the UTTERMOST…
Just think – to every part of heaven! What is there that’s better than where God is? Nothing we know here on earth could ever compare! Now – on to the lesson – you can easily see this isn’t the Jesus that our Bibles tell us about!
In the 1830 passage it says Jesus was revealed to Nephi in 600 BC. They had to change the original when they used the word Christ to Messiah because in 2 Nephi 10:3 which supposedly took place 40 yrs later it says Jesus was revealed to Nephi for the first time;
“…it must needs be expedient that Christ–for in the last night the angel spake unto me that this should be his name–should come among the Jews…”
Not only did they have to change the text it’s also apparent that Smith didn’t have a clear understanding of the words Christ and Messiah. While the two words are actually synonymous, Messiah is the Hebrew form of the word Christ which is Greek.
Furthermore, in the BoM Messiah is used correctly as a title in first Nephi, but in second Nephi Christ is used incorrectly as His name.
