Journal of Discourses 3:212; “What an uproar it would make in the Christian world to say, I am an Apostle of Joseph. Write it down, and write it back to your friends in the east, that I am an Apostle of Joseph Smith. He was a man of God and had the revelations of Jesus Christ, and the words of Jesus Christ to the people. He did build and establish the kingdom of God on earth, and through him the Lord Almighty again restored the Priesthood to the children of men.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, February 17, 1856
Matthew 10:2-4; “Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.”
Let’s see…I’ve read the biblical passage a number of times and nowhere did I find the name of Brigham in the list of apostles for the Messiah. And I didn’t see Joseph Smith’s name as the one who was the Messiah. The only One that filled those shoes was Jesus, not Joseph!
If Brigham had really studied God’s word he would have known the Kingdom of God was established by Jesus, not Joseph. He also would’ve known Smith was anything but a man of God! Only Brigham can answer the question of why he’d want to follow an imposter, but sadly he wasn’t the only one who was duped and then stood firm in his decision to deny the real Christ.
