Journal of Discourses 24:126 “But let me refer you to another blessing connected with Abraham, namely, that in him and his seed should all the nations of the earth be blessed. Or, in other words, that God would honor him by making of him and his seed agents through whom He would communicate truth, intelligence and salvation to the world. It is said “the glory of God is intelligence,” and He is desirous to impart this intelligence to the human family, that through it they may be exalted to the Godhead.” – John Taylor, Salt Lake City, April 8, 1883
1 Cor 1:27; “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty”.
God chose Abraham to be the first of His covenant people not because he was mighty amongst men, rather, God chose him because of his heart. Abraham loved God and believed Him. He acted on faith (Gal 3:6, Rom 4:3, James 2:23) and whenever he tried to do things on his own, he saw the immediate catastrophic results, aka Hagar and Ishmael.
Likewise on this side of the cross, we exhibit God’s glory when we obey Him through worshiping His Son whom He sacrificed for our sins – 2 Cor 4:7.
There is no exaltation for man. There is no godhood for man. There is no sharing the Godhead with Him as He’s not going to relinquish His power or share it with others. He alone is God and there is no other (Isaiah 43:10-11).
