3 Nephi 20:3-7; “And it came to pass that he brake bread again and blessed it, and gave to the disciples to eat. 4 And when they had eaten he commanded them that they should break bread, and give unto the multitude. 5 And when they had given unto the multitude he also gave them wine to drink, and commanded them that they should give unto the multitude. 6 Now, there had been no bread, neither wine, brought by the disciples, neither by the multitude; 7 But he truly gave unto them bread to eat, and also wine to drink.”
Matthew 14:19-21; “And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. 20 And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. 21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.”
Wow, what are the odds? Why is it that Jesus did the same thing in America that he did in Israel? And why is it the story in the BoM is bigger and better than what took place in the Bible?
Did you notice that Jesus performed a magic trick in this example?
Nephi tells us the Mormon Jesus fed the crowds even when there was no bread and no wine. In the Bible Jesus merely multiplied the things that were already there. Good grief…
Does this sound feasible to you?
If you’re LDS why is this story in the BoM and what purpose does it serve for you personally today?
The two verses preceding this passage sound a lot like a game of Simon says…
3 Nephi 20:1-2; “And it came to pass that he commanded the multitude that they should cease to pray, and also his disciples. And he commanded them that they should not cease to pray in their hearts. 2 And he commanded them that they should arise and stand up upon their feet. And they arose up and stood upon their feet.”
