Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p 345; “God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted Man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret… It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God and to know…that he was once a man like us. Here, then, is eternal life—to know that only wise and true God, and you have got to learn how to become Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you. .. God himself, the father of us all dwelt on an earth the same as Jesus Christ.”
Adam is Father God, Eve is Mother Goddess
Journal of Discourses 1:50; “I tell you, when you see your Father in the Heavens, you will see Adam; when you see your Mother that bear your spirit, you will see Mother Eve.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, April 9, 1852
Heavenly Mother
Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p. 257; “Logic and reason would certainly suggest that f we have a Father in Heaven, we have a Mother in Heaven. That doctrine rests well with me.” – Gordon B. Hinckley
Satan, Offspring of Deity
The Teachings of Harold B. Lee, p. 36; “Who is Satan? Satan was the spiritual offspring of Deity. He was a spiritual brother to the Chosen, the one whom we have come to know as the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” – Harold B. Lee
Jesus, Offspring of Deity & Begotten by Adam
Journal of Discourses 1:51; “Jesus, our elder brother, was begotten in the flesh by the same character that was in the garden of Eden, and who is our Father in Heaven. Now, let all who may hear these doctrines, pause before they make light of them, or treat them with indifference, for they will prove their salvation or damnation.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, April 9, 1852
Isaiah 9:6; “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Today we’ve highlighted the deities of Mormonism for a couple of reasons.
If you’re not LDS I would imagine things can get a bit confusing so we’re giving the definitions of their gods here to clear things up. We’re also doing this so you can use it as a handy guide when witnessing to your Mormon friends and loved ones!
You’ll notice the descriptions of Mormon deities don’t use any biblical examples to describe themselves. It’s rather telling is it not?
Comparing those with what God says in His word gives a stark contrast of how God works and how Satan works. The Lord is very open, descriptive and forthcoming in letting us know who He is and what He’s about.
Why doesn’t the Mormon Church advertise these deities in their aggressive PR campaigns?
Instead of transparency you’ll find how they’ve tried to place themselves in the shadows of Christianity to try and blend in.
