Mormon Doctrine, pg. 327; “Moroni deposited the plates in the Hill Cumorah in about 421 A.D., and then as a resurrected being revealed the hiding place to the Prophet on September 22, 1823. Four years later the Prophet was permitted to obtain possession of them, but the actual translation of the portion we now have as the Book of Mormon did not take place until between April 7 and June 11, 1829. Thereafter the plates were returned to the custody of Moroni. (Jos. Smith 2:27-65; D. & C. 27:5; Doctrines of Salvation, vol. 3, pp. 215-226.”
Galatians 1:8-9; “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
Over the years we’ve asked where the golden plates of Mormonism are at countless times. In today’s dilemma we’re wondering…
Just why did Moroni take the plates back?
What purpose did this action serve?
The Church has been abundantly clear throughout its history that the Christian Bible can’t be trusted because there aren’t any original manuscripts or texts available today.
Does this same standard hold true for Mormonism and if not, why not?
Where are the original plates and why did Moroni take them away?
Very good point.
Just sayin’… 🙂
