General Conference, April 2015, “Why Marriage and Family Matters—Everywhere in the World”; “We … believe that strong traditional families are not only the basic units of a stable society, a stable economy, and a stable culture of values—but that they are also the basic
units of eternity and of the kingdom and government of God. . . .
It is because of our belief that marriages and families are eternal that we, as a church, want to be a leader and a participant in worldwide movements to strengthen them. …
…We need to remind ourselves once in a while … of the wonderfully reassuring and comforting fact that marriage and family are still the aspiration and ideal of most people and that we are not alone in those beliefs. …
We want our voice to be heard against all of the counterfeit and alternative lifestyles that try to replace the family organization that God Himself established. We also want our voice to be heard in sustaining the joy and fulfillment that traditional families bring.” – Elder L. Tom Perry
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Hebrews 13:4; “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”
If God established the ideal family organization for mankind to live in, explain Joseph Smith and every Mormon polygamist who didn’t abide God’s ideal.
For the majority of multi-generational Mormons and ex-Mormons alike, family genealogy charts are filled with people who didn’t live in an ideal setting.
If you’re LDS, what are your thoughts on this?
Was God’s commandment in Smith’s day a counterfeit?
While we’re on the subject of polygamy…
Why does LDS canon still reflect Joe Smith’s prophecy that those who don’t abide by the ‘new and everlasting covenant’ of polygamy will be damned?
Why should you find comfort or even care that you’re not alone in the ideal marriage setting? Jesus told us in Matthew 7:14 ‘strait is the gate and narrow is the way…’ Ultimately, all our concerns, thoughts and purposes should be fixed solely upon Him!
Jesus told us in Mark 12:19-25 there are no marriages in heaven so why is this man preaching against what Jesus instructed us on?
Warning to our Christian brother and sisters: these types of comments are typically a call to arms from the Mormon Church. They’ll have a louder voice for the ‘common good’ and entice the body of Christ and other like-minded people to invest time and money into their pet projects. The Bible tells us not to condone others’ bad behavior. 2 Cor 6:14-15, 17-18.
