General Conference, “The Key to Spiritual Protection,” October 2013; “Just as chalk can
be removed from a blackboard, with sincere repentance the effects of our transgression can be erased through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. That promise applies in every case.” — Boyd K. Packer
2 Cor. 5:10; “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
The Lord will certainly forgive us of our sins (Isaiah 43:25), but this doesn’t mean the effects of those sins are wiped away like the writing on a chalkboard.
If someone kills another human being, the mom of the victim is still missing a child. The result of that sin lasts a lifetime. Likewise, we can forgive someone of an egregious act, but this doesn’t mean we can forget what happened. These two things are not the same.
