Colossians 2:16; “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in
respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.”
Today’s dilemma comes courtesy of Today in Mormon History. When I came across this interesting piece I was reminded of an article I read in the latest National Geographic Magazine.
The NG article had a multi page spread on the Catholic Church’s latest pope, and how wonderful the guy is. I’m sure he’s a nice enough guy, but being nice doesn’t get you into heaven. If that’s all it took then why did Jesus die? I’m also wondering…why do the edicts of Catholicism remind me a lot of Mormonism?
One distinguishing characteristic of the Catholic Church that stuck out was their comment about communion. The article stated if a Catholic hadn’t received the proper annulment when divorced, they’re forbidden from partaking communion. Oh brother… (See National Geographic, ‘Pope Francis Remakes the Vatican,’ August 2015, p. 57)
How do they know what’s in a person’s heart?
Likewise, our LDS reference today carries much of the same rhetoric. Above all else, remember to pray, won’t you? Pray for those caught in these lies, whether they’re Catholic, or Mormon, they’re both in dire need!

“Apostle Brigham Young Jr. tells stake priesthood meeting: “There are many girls in Utah who have never had an offer of marriage from a man of the Church… Girls who marry outsiders are not worthy of the Sacrament.””
