 Last week a good friend (Melissa Brown) gave me a heads up about an article she read online at Religion News Service. The author (Jana Reiss) spoke about her frustration with the Church’s new rules regarding Sacrament (aka, Communion), during the pandemic.

Today we’re looking at the LDS version of Communion, or Sacrament, as it is known in Mormonism. Because nothing in Mormonism is straightforward, you’ll find multiple layers to this ordinance. I’ve tried to lessen the confusion by highlighting the bottom line in each of their explanations of how this works.

Old-Testament-Gospel-Doctrine-Teachers-Manual-35570000This next lesson goes into Moses freeing the Israelites from bondage, the plagues in Egypt and the Passover. It takes the class through the first fourteen chapters rather quickly without taking the time to truly study what God has to teach us from these events. I can’t believe I used to think this was an acceptable way to study God’s word, especially when it comes to a Sunday school class. I guess sitting under pastors who preach expository has spoiled me. 🙂

Thought of the Day about Mormonism and the Sacrament

One is a picture of bread and water while the other is a picture of Joe Smith kneeling in prayer, arms tightly folded while people are laying hands on his head and praying.

My focus on this set of pictures for this quick thought today is the bread and water. Notice the bread is filled with yeast and what in that water looks like the blood of Christ?
