June 16 – Exalting Oneself. Isaiah 14:13-14; “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.”

One thing Joe Smith was known for is bragging about himself, and his demise didn’t stop that bad habit. From those he left behind, to the contemporary Mormons of today, there’s no short supply of those who like to exalt the man. Pray for the Mormons who exalt men instead of God and have their priorities misaligned. When you have the opportunity, share the verse from Isaiah with a Mormon in a gentle manner. No matter how you say it, they’ll be angry with you, but your mannerisms will speak volumes to them and leave a lasting impression. Expressing concern about their eternal welfare does sink in – I know from personal experience!
Also ask them if they believe the words written by Mr. McConkie. Joe Smith did ‘pen’ prophecies like the ancients did…he plagiarized them.

Joseph Smith: The Choice Seer, Parting the Veil, Part III; “…no one has been permitted to pen more of what his ancient counterparts saw and add to what they were shown than the Prophet Joseph Smith. We know of no man in the earth’s history who has done more to extend the faith and expand the mind of mortal men than Joseph the Prophet-whose very name means “he who gathers” and “let him add.” – Joseph Fielding McConkie
