Jude 1:3-4; “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Journal of Discourses 3:41; “Though Mahometan institutions are corrupt enough, and need reforming by the Gospel, I am inclined to think, upon the whole, leaving out the corruptions of men in high places among them, that they have better morals and better institutions than many Christian nations; and in many localities there have been high standards of morals. So far as that one point is concerned, of worshipping the one true God under the name of Mahometanism, together with many moral precepts, and in war only acting on the defensive, I think they have exceeded in righteousness and truthfulness of religion, the idolatrous and corrupt church that has borne the name of Christianity.” – Parley P. Pratt, Great Salt Lake City, September 23, 1855
2 Corinthians 4:18; “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
How sad of a life Mr. Pratt must’ve lived. Why did he find time in his day to malign God’s children, and do so with untrue statements about both the Muslims and Christians! Mr. Pratt was a well-read man and certainly knew the truth about the Islamic faith.
Moreover, as a Christian, second only to our priceless salvation, the body of Christ is one of the sweetest, not to mention glorious, blessings the Lord has graced us with. While I have a tendency to look at the body through rose colored glasses, we must be ever mindful of keeping a tight hold to the truth of God’s word.
Our other ‘job’, if you will, is to remember the blessed hope we have as God’s blood bought children. We have a glorious new life because He ransomed us with the blood of His Son. Those are the things that aren’t seen.
The things we see are the blessings like a new family in Christ!
When leaving Mormonism, one is sure to find countless examples of how Joseph Smith twisted God’s word, and went out of his way to establish a system within Mormonism that worked against everything God told us not to do.
Obviously, removing oneself as a member of the body of Christ is a hallmark indicator they’re not of us. The Apostle John warned us of this in his first epistle.
As an ex-Mormon, now a very grateful member of the body, I humbly wish to warn my brothers and sisters in Christ, to beware of those who want to buddy up on social issues, because what’s going on in their hearts isn’t from our dear Lord Jesus.
John’s epistle confirmed to me after my exodus, there was a very real spiritual war going on! 1 John 2:9-11 is a vitally important passage, filled with information for the Christian to remember.
In vs. 11 it says those who hate their brothers are in darkness, and don’t know where they’re going. I’ve not met a Mormon yet who can definitively say they know they are saved.
God’s word isn’t filled with random stuff just to fill up space on a page beloved! The words His Holy Spirit breathed into the minds of His inspired writers spoke very specific words, relaying messages that are imperative for us to know, and understand. Also note the other two passages as well.
1 John 2:9-11 “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. 10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. 11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.”
1 John 3:11, 15; “For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”
1 John 4:11-13; “Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.”
