Deuteronomy 17:19; “And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them”.
1 Nephi 5:17; “And now when my father saw all these things, he was filled with the Spirit, and began to prophesy concerning his seed—” – 592 BC
John 7:39-40; “(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) 40 ¶ Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.” – c. 32 AD
Our post today is a reminder of how mighty God’s word is! Hebrews 4:12.
As most people are aware, in 1830 Joseph Smith claimed to have translated the Book of Mormon which is a compilation of twenty books. It contains stories of a supposed unknown tribe of Israel who lived in the Americas from BC 600 – 421 AD. Today we’re looking at a few simple facts from those writings that screams false prophecy.
In just one verse from our Lord’s word we can plainly see how the Mormon gospel is false, based on what Jesus said.
John 7:39 “(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” [emp. mine]
Sixteen of those twenty books repeatedly mentioned they had God’s Holy Spirit in the BC era, making 75% of its narrative a false prophecy.
You can see in our Greek and Latin Words Chart how the terms Holy Ghost (44x), and Holy Spirit (15x), were used 59 times in the BC era.
Because of all that, we’re asking for Christians to share this info with the Mormon they know, and to be ever vigilant in praying for them. Thanks and God bless!
