“If”, part 2, Calvary Love by Amy Carmichael; ‘…if the cup of spiritual flattery tastes sweet to me, then I know nothing of Calvary love…’ Thou Givest, They Gather
History of the Church 6:299-300; “We are now the most noble people on the face of the globe, and we have no occasion to fear tadpoles.
We are designated by the All-seeing Eye to do good, not to stoop to anything low. We are apt to suffer prejudice to get into our hearts on hearing reports. … The reason why I feel so good is because I have a big soul. There are men with small bodies who have got souls like Enoch. We have. We have gathered our big souls from the ends of the earth. The Gospel picks the big souls out of all creation, and we will get the big souls out of all the nations, and we shall have the largest city in the world.
We will gather all the big souls out of every nation. As soon as the Gospel catches hold of noble souls, it brings them all right up to Zion. There is a thing called guiding star. The Gospel is similar. We will have a people great enough to be saved.” – Joseph Smith
Galatians 6:3; “For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.”
Coming across this passage in the History of the Church, saddened me to the core. As a Christian with loved ones in Mormonism, I can’t help but think what we see here at the ministry is a result of Smith’s comments. This type of self honor leads to a belief in self-sufficiency, and a detachment from our Creator.
What makes me sad about this is how many generations of people he led away from our Lord.
It’s not just the multi-generational people like myself, but the first generation Mormons who are now estranged from their Christian families today.
And most importantly lest we forget, the ‘All-Seeing-Eye’ is no less than the Egyptian god Horus. Apparently Smith was getting his directions from a false idol god, and not the God of the Bible.
As we’ve pointed out before, this symbol (the All-Seeing-Eye) is supposedly the left eye of the “moon”, or “sound eye” of Horus, who’s the son of Isis (mother goddess of nature and magic), and Osiris (god of the underworld). The full story of how their son Horus came into being is too sexually graphic for this website, but you can find the info anywhere on the net.
