Romans 2:2; “But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.”
Ether 1:43; “And there will I bless thee and thy seed, and raise up unto me of thy seed, and of the seed of thy brother, and they who shall go with thee, a great nation. And there shall be none greater than the nation which I will raise up unto me of thy seed, upon all the face of the earth. And thus I will do unto thee because this long time ye have cried unto me.”
Genesis 18:17-18; “And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; 18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?”
One has to wonder what members of the Church must think when they read passages like this in the book of Ether, and then come across ancient biblical resources refuting everything they just learned.
Complicating matters further, the Book of Mormon teaching isn’t logically sound! All Mormons know the Jaredites became extinct, so this should tell them their god can’t keep his promises!
Pray for Jesus to open their hearts and minds to what they’re learning in their Sunday school classes before it’s too late!
Im sorry, but your argument doesnt make any sense, at all. Zero.
1. The promise the Lord made to referring the Jaredites was made CENTURIES before the birth of Abraham, and centuries more before Israel could even be considered a (tribal) nation.
2. The promise made to Abraham was in referrence to the LAST DAYS, wherein all the nations of the earth would be blessed (have the gospel) through his seed. Abrahamic religions are the ONLY ones to profess the gospel, and only christianity has Jesus Christ as saviour.
3. Israel has NEVER been a ‘great nation’ in context to size or power. Even in its golden age under Solomon, it was a well organized small empire (because it had vassal states) that’s main importance was its geography; it was the portal to Europe, Asia, and Africa, and when these three wanted trading or fighting done, it was through the country that Israel occupied. Most of the history of the world, Israel did not even EXIST as a country, much less a great one. You confuse the (obvious) meanings of the two scripures and their intended promises.
4. You seem to forget (like most so-called scholars of religion) that the greatest man in Israeli history WASNT EVEN AN ISRAELITE (father Abraham). So, obviously, God talks to more than JUST THE JEWS. Moses received the priesthood theough is Father in law who was, guess what, NOT AN ISRAELITE (he was a midianite if memory serves). In Deuteronomy it explicitly says NOT TO MARRY outside the gsdpel covenant, yet the Author of said book (Moses) has 2 wives, neither of whom are Israelite. Did he break the rules?
5. Again, Abraham paid his tithing to King Melchezedek. Not an Israelite. I wonder if God told him that he was a nobody High Priest, a charlatan in other words, for not being from Israel. Neither were the 3 wise men from the east, more than likely. They probably read their phoney scriptures, too. How dare those fake scriptures teach non-israelites about Jesus!
He who does not inderstand his scriptures seems to be you, my friend.
RYANTAYLOR,
So, thanks for your comment,
Your arguments and points are only valid, if the Book of Mormon is true. Meaning the Jaredites actually existed. But we now know what science and DNA has revealed about that. Not to mention, in spite of all the technology we have today, there is still zero evidence for the Book of Mormon. Even the church’s own historians have come up with nothing. The Smithsonian Institute, and The National Geographic Society ( both are bias organizations, they don’t care either way), haven’t found ANY evidence.
You have to know this by now, the church knows this, and has published this (in a round about way) in some of their “gospel topic essays”. which are all available on their website. Don’t take my word for it check it out for yourself.
Your time and Input is appreciated.
