For the first time in almost thirty years, the LDS Church has ex-communicated a General Authority. After a disciplinary hearing, James J. Hamula, a member of the Seventies, was officially ‘let go’ of his duties.
Mr. Hamula was originally called to his position in 2008. He served in various positions, which included callings in New Zealand, until 2014. At that time he was transferred stateside to serve at the Church History Department from 2014-2016, and his final position as executive director of the Correlation Department.
According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the reason for Hamula’s excommunication ‘was not for apostasy or disillusionment’.
After perusing some popular chat rooms, we got the impression the reason why he was ‘ex-ed’ is for one of the reasons the Church listed as why he wasn’t let go. This wouldn’t surprise us at all given the Church’s track record, and where Mr. Hamula was working at the time of his departure.
Only time will tell if we’ll know the true story in the near future, but one thing is certain right now. He and his family need to know the true Jesus of the Bible, and they need the prayers of true believing Christians!
We’re praying Jesus will intercede on his behalf, and place Christians in his life who will share the truth with him, his wife, and their six children! Come alongside us to pray!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Praying … It completely baffles me when someone with an analytical mind (doctor, judge, lawyer, historian) could possibly stay in a church that constantly lies. I mean, when I left the church, I didn’t have the benefit of google or youtube … and I am not very bright … yet, I figured it out. Praise the Lord that someone at the very top of the church left .. (sorry, got excommunicated).
Hi Elizabeth!
Thanks for visiting, writing in, AND praying! PTL! We’re rejoicing in knowing you’ve left the Church and know the Lord!
If/when you can, we’d love to have your testimony on the site to share the fantastic news of what God has done! 🙂
Although the Church reported this guy didn’t get axed because of doubts, we’re doubting their side of it.
You’ll notice their wording was very strategic, and makes the reader (especially Mormons) think the only other reason he was excommunicated would be for some sexual sin. Their wording directs the readers thoughts into assuming such things…
We, on the other hand, think there’s more to it than this. While the possibility is still out there he did do something along the lines of a serious unmentionable sin, odds are just as good that he didn’t and the Church hasn’t told the truth.
Our concern for him and the family is that his degree comes from BYU.
Historically, when people get tossed from membership and their degree is from the Church, they lose their degree as well…sigh…
Michelle
I feel sorry for people who try to distort the truth. That means you Michelle. May Heavenly Father have mercy on you soul.
William –
Exactly what did I distort?
We’re praying you open your bible and find the true Jesus who provides true salvation in Him. Blessings.

1 Corinthians 1:18
To Michelle Grim from William McGuire –
Michelle – What I am writing here is not meant to be offensive. You and I both believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the Savior of all mankind. You and I are part of our Heavenly Father’s Family here on earth. That makes you and I brother and sister and all the other people in this world are our brothers and sisters as well.
I read and study the Holy Bible (Old and New Testament) every year and accept it as Holy Scripture received through inspiration by the Lord’s Prophets to all mankind, here on earth.
When The Lord was on the earth during His lifetime 2000 years ago he set up His Church. It was to be named the Church of Jesus Christ (after His name because it was His Church. That church has continued down to the present time, but some years after the Lord established His Church men, because of their own personal opinions, because to change the doctrine and it into a man made religion. Consequently we have a church on the earth that was once the truth, but through the years that church became corrupted and thus apostate. You know as well as I do what church that is. A lot of other churches fell away from that church, because they could see that it had become apostate and was no longer the truth. Those churches that formed were honest attempts to get back to the truth, but it says in the Bible that “except there be a falling away first” the truth would not be established again.
If you take the missionary discussions of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and pray about it, you will discover that it is the reestablishment of the same church the Lord set up when he was on the earth. If you do not believe that it is the true church after you have taken the missionary discussions then you will have further knowledge about the church and will be an expert at criticizing the church.
I wish you well Michelle

We are not Brothers or Sisters with you as you are not Christian, which means that you don’t believe in the Triune God of the Bible. (SEE SIDEBAR: “Unequally yoked”)
If you are interested in knowing the REAL Jesus, we’ll discuss this with you. You can also read the information on this website. You can start with the topic on the terminology (SEE SIDEBAR: “Terminology of a Mormon vs. Biblical Terminology”). This is what this website is about.
We already know about Mormonism so we don’t need your explanations or defense. We’re here to help those who are interested in knowing what Christianity is about and why nothing in Mormonism is in Christianity.
I am a former devout United Methodist, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in June of 1980.I have no regrets, I have finally found the Lord’s Church established once more upon the earth in these last days.I thought Ed Decker’s film called the God Makers was the most vulgar and low class production I have ever seen.I was invited to a Baptist church to see the film and was shocked that over 500 so called Christians would laugh at and mock at another persons faith. It was a TOTAL turnoff, and a turning point for me personally. If THAT nonsense is your Christianity, no thank you, not ever! really?
