Self-imposed revelators lead astray. Zechariah 11:9; “Then said I, I will not feed you: that that dieth, let it die; and that that is to be cut off, let it be cut off; and let the rest eat every one the flesh of another.”
Matthew 13:10-11; “And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? 11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.”

Stops ministering to the those who rejected Him … Jesus had just ‘proven’ to the councils that met in private against Him that He was none other than the Messiah. Healing the blind, deaf, and demon possessed was something only God was capable of doing. They all knew this and witnessed His miracles, yet they chose to reject Him. Jesus’ ministry at this juncture had just taken a drastic change. The Pharisaical councils had committed the unpardonable sin – blasphemy. Speaking in parables was an act of judgment against those whose hearts were hardened and we can see here how the disciples were ever eager to learn more from Him while the leaders weren’t willing.
Like the Pharisees and Sadducees, the Mormon hierarchy doesn’t want to know Him either because their self-imposed revelator convinced them he knew it all.

Journal of Discourses 7:289; “Joseph Smith holds the keys of this last dispensation, and is now engaged behind the vail [sic] in the great work of the last days…no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 9, 1859
