November 28 — Where is Zion: America, or Israel? Zechariah 9:9a “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee…”
Matthew 21:8-10 “And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed them in the way. 9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?”

Greeted with rejoicing in Jerusalem… The Golden Gate, also known as the Eastern Gate is where Jesus entered Jerusalem, and has been closed off for centuries now. If you do a search looking for info on why, or when this happened, you’ll come up with a different answer for each inquiry made. Some say it happened in 1541 during the Ottoman Empire, others say it happened during the days of Ezekiel which would mean it’d have to reopen because this is the gate Jesus entered when He went into Jerusalem. Still others claim it took place circa 700 AD. What we do know is that it’s closed, and will open again when our Lord returns!
Mormons believe Jesus will return again, and when He does, it’ll be in Zion. However, the Zion they’re referring to is the American Continent, not Israel.

History of the Church 7:258 “The Whole of America Zion. To those who want to go away from this place, I would say wait until the time comes. I will give you the key. North and South America is Zion and as soon as the Temple is done and you get your endowments you can go and build up stakes, but do not be in haste, wait until the Lord says go.” – Brigham Young, August 18, 1844
