December 2 — Blood v. Ordinances. John 3:16-17; “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

John 3:16 is always a favorite for Christians, but many times we overlook the very next verse. Today pray for Mormons, and the immense amount of pressure they put themselves under in believing they’ll never be good enough to be saved.
As if teaching you have to save yourself isn’t bad enough, notice here today what else they believe about Jesus. They’ve totally ignored what Jesus did on the cross, and made our salvation possible because He obeyed certain principles.
Remind the Mormon you know He came to save, yes, but the price He paid was His blood!

“Only Begotten Son; Only Begotten in the flesh, meaning in mortality. This designation of our Lord signifies that he was begotten by Man of Holiness as literally as any mortal father begets a son. The natural processes of procreation were involved; Jesus was begotten by his Father as literally as he was conceived by his mother.” Bruce R. McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary, 3 vols., 1:144.
Also see:
“And the great and wonderful love made manifest by the Father and the Son in the coming of the Redeemer into the world; That through his atonement, and by obedience to the principles of the gospel, mankind might be saved.” Doctrine and Covenants 138:3-4.
Mormons believe Temple Ordinances are necessary for salvation. I remember watching the Tucson, Arizona Temple dedication on TV. The Temple President made a comment about the way to Eternal Life with God through Jesus Christ. The Temple President took out his Tempe Recommend, waved it around and declared” this is the way to salvation.” I am a Mormon but haven’t bee to church in 2 months. Im gonna start going to the Redeemer Bible Church here in Gilbert, Arizona with my buddy
Hi there soldiermp –
We wanted you to know we’re praying for you! It’s hard to leave the Church, but it’s not worthy of mention when it comes to knowing you’re following the Jesus of the Bible!
Let us know how things are going for you!
Are you a lifelong member?
With Love in Christ;

Its the Blood of Christ, along with God’s grace, that allows us to be saved; not temple ordinances, not whether or not you are a full tithe payer or are diligent in your church callings. If the members of the LDS church were encouraged to read the Bible and not just the BOM, perhaps more church members would understand Salvation thru Grace, Not by Works
Amen!
I’m praying for you soldiermp. I was a member of the Mormon Church for many years until my family left. I know it’s hard to leave, and figure out what’s true and what isn’t. I’m so glad that you are finding your way out of the Mormon maze and have found a bible believing church. – Melissa Grimes
Hi soldiermp… Sounds like you’re on the right track. I checked out Redeemer Bible Church’s web site. It’s seems very Christ centered. In fact, the latest sermon was titled ” Jesus Christ the only way of salvation”. Which I find very telling.
Jesus is your temple recommend, He’s ALL you need. That little card with a bar code means no more to God than the Costco card. They both allow you access into a particular building…that’s all.
Your buddy must be so ecstatic you’re going to go
to church with him. I can assure you he’s been praying you. He sounds like a good friend. Please keep us posted.
Good luck Solider. Roman’s 16 : 17-18…Melissa
