A New Witness for the Articles of Faith, p. 518 “Israelites are called Gentiles in those scriptures which speak of the gospel going first to the Gentiles and then to the Jews in the last days. Thus the Book of Mormon came forth by way of the Gentile; Joseph Smith was the Gentile who brought it forth; and the United States is a Gentile nation. This is an instance of all men being divided into two categories–Jews and Gentiles, with the Jews being those who are descendants of the Kingdom of Judah. This categorizes the Lost Tribes of Israel as Gentiles, though, in fact, they are of the literal blood of Israel. Joseph Smith was of Ephraim, and the so-called Gentiles who are receiving the gospel in this day, before it goes to the Jews in full measure, are of the house of Israel.” — Bruce R. McConkie, 1985
Ephesians 4:14 “That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive”.
Sometimes it’s better to just let things speak for themselves so we’re doing that today with Mr. McConkie’s definition of Gentiles.
This example, however, should be a healthy reminder to pray! It also serves as a good example as to why my people are confused. The Lord has warned us to not be carried away with crazy ideas, so we’re praying they’ll take heed!
With Love in Christ;

So, you make up doctrine, realize it can’t be correct, so you change facts and meanings of words to fit your doctrine. Got it.
🙂 It’s complicated isn’t it?
I’m not gonna lie…I get a little excited when I see McConkie’s name. You know you can expect some good heresy and blasphemy, with no shame.
Is this part of the famous 1985 BYU talk? When he says we’re not to pray to Jesus?
You’re funny! 😉 Just about everything he said did raise the eyebrows though…
To answer your question – no. This isn’t part of McConkie’s speech that he gave in 1982 – ‘Our Relationship with the Lord’. You can find it on our site – Mormon Dilemmas 96 Don’t Pray to Jesus https://lifeafterministry.com/2011/11/mormon-dilemma-96-dont-pray-to-jesus/
The quote listed tonight is from the book he wrote about the Articles of Faith. It’s a type of encyclopedic work of many doctrines found in Mormonism. While he did author a book ‘Mormon Doctrine’, the one mentioned in this post is quite in-depth. I’ve not found it free online as of yet, but only for sale on various sites.
