June 9 – Multitudes Followed Jesus. Matthew 19:1-2; “And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan; 2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.”

Untold thousands followed Jesus throughout Galilee. In Mark 1:33 it says the entire city waited at the door of Peter for Jesus to emerge. Luke 12:1 tells us throngs of people wanting to see, hear, or touch Him were trampling over each other to get closer to Him.
Everywhere the Lord went, the people were sure to follow. Granted, not everyone loved Him, however, by and large the majority did.
Ask your Mormon friend why people in Joseph Smith’s day were required to love Joe if they wanted to love God. The people in the Bible weren’t worried about such a thing.

16 February 1849, Salt Lake City, Manuscript History of Brigham Young, Volume 3, pp. 156-158; “Moses was as God to the children of Israel, so was Joseph to us, and no man could love God without loving Joseph.”
Such deception! So billions of people over the centuries have loved God but never heard of Smith – really didn’t love God?
Ridiculous isn’t it???
Joe was nothing more than a modern day televangelist without the TV. He was a smart man, that instinctively knew what people were searching for spiritually. Joe understood that folks did not read their Bible as much as they ought, therefore, he stepped in and told them things that were pleasant to hear, but were also unbiblical in nature. The Bible gives us ample warning about folks like JS, however, if you don’t read the Bible, people like Joe can coma along and tell you just about anything you want to hear and if it sounds reasonable, you go along with it (Read 2 Peter 2:1-3)
Amen!
