General Conference, ‘The Holy Temple A Beacon to the World,’ April 2011 “If you have not yet been to the temple or if you have been but currently do not qualify for a recommend, there is no more important goal for you to work toward than being worthy to go to the temple. Your sacrifice may be bringing your life into compliance with what is required to receive a recommend, perhaps by forsaking long-held habits which disqualify you. It may be having the faith and the discipline to pay your tithing. Whatever it is, qualify to enter the temple of God. Secure a temple recommend and regard it as a precious possession, for such it is.
Until you have entered the house of the Lord and have received all the blessings which await you there, you have not obtained everything the Church has to offer. The all-important and crowning blessings of membership in the Church are those blessings which we receive in the temples of God.” — Thomas Monson [emp. added]
Acts 7:48 “Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet”.
Oh my. Reading Mr. Monson’s ‘advice’ brought such sadness to my heart for my people.
There’s nothing in the Bible telling us we’re required to have a temple recommend.
There’s nothing in the Bible telling us we must perform rituals and pay money to ‘qualify’ for heaven.
The Church is guilty of demanding money for salvation which is what they accused the Catholics, and Protestants of doing. Hence, we have Mormonism today.
Bad habits could never disqualify someone from heaven.
The phrase Mr. Monson used is very telling —
‘Until you have entered the house of the Lord and have received all the blessings which await you there, you have not obtained everything the Church has to offer.’
Simply put, he’s saying the Church gives salvation, not Jesus. Pray for those who are trapped by their horrendous lies!
These faux requirements sound more like the bylaws of a golf club, or grocery store membership than anything biblical.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
What deceivers they are…….do this to meet the requirements of the church. I cannot fathom the leadership, year after year, teaching these ungodly tenets. Some of them must know they are lying because God never said the things they say and they read the Bible. It is very, very sad to realize they are lost. I know you pray, Michelle, as do I. Oh, that they might see.
The Mormon Church indoctrinates it’s members into believing the following regarding salvation and eternal live with God: 1) Baptism is necessary for salvation. Baptism must be performed (ONLY) by a Mormon Priesthood holder or, it is not a legitimate baptism” 2) Mormons believe that in order to be saved, you must complete the Saving Ordinances work, that can only be done inside a Mormon Temples. Non-Mormons or Mormons without Temple recommends, therefore, are not worthy to live eternally with God: 3) Tithing is one of church’s main components for a promise of eternal life with Heavenly Father. If you are not a Full Tithe Payer, you can’t enter the temple. Tithing Settlements is a time where you and your family have to stand before the Bishop and confess to him whether or not you are a full tithe payer. Nobody wants to stand before the Bishop, with their young children in tow, and tell the Bishop that they are not full tithe payers. The embarrassment factor is what the church counts on to make sure you pay your tithe.
Question for the LDS General Authorities. We have Tithing Settlement Time. Why isn’t there an HONESTY SETTLEMENT?? PROFANITY SETTLEMENT, POROGRAPHY SETTLEMENT?? ADULTERY SETTLEMENT?? Its all about the money, that is why. The church doesn’t want to hear about your porography addiction, your adulterous affairs, the filthy words that spew forth from your mouth at your employment site.
