August 24 – 142 years old? Genesis 6:3 “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”

Today’s Mormon reference isn’t so much a witnessing tool all on its own, rather, it serves as another proof Joe Smith lied. When you’re witnessing to a Mormon, you can use it to let them know, “And Ether 9:24 is one more reason I can’t trust the BoM”.

Ether 9:24 “And it came to pass that his wife died, being an hundred and two years old. And it came to pass that Coriantum took to wife, in his old age, a young maid, and begat sons and daughters; wherefore he lived until he was an hundred and forty and two years old.”
Sarah, Abraham’s wife lived to 127. Abraham lived to 175. Both were several generations after the Lord said what you quoted from Genesis 6:3. Several people between Noah and Abraham lived well over 200 years. For example, Abraham’s grandfather Serug lived to 207.
I think that there are alternative interpretations of Genesis 6:3, including one that indicates that there were 120 years from when the Lord said that and the flood.
Psalm 90:10 says “The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away.” Yet we have documented cases of people in recent years living to 114. I don’t know that this is proof of Joseph Smith lying, although there is still ample proof of that.
142 is highly unlikely, but not out of the realm of possibility.
The Mormons listen to this nonsense because they have been programmed since Primary to believe in their leaders and to revere the BOM above all other texts. As a Mormon, I often wondered what the heck I was even doing watching General Conference. The speakers NEVER say anything that has not been repeated over and over again. And then, after General conference, everybody goes back to their wards and always ask each other the same question: “Well, what did you think of GC? The replies are ALWAYS the same: “Oh gee, wasn’t it just wonderful” I thought it was the best GC ever. Oh, and I loved President Nelson’s message so much.” Those same words are repeated time and time again in every ward throughout the church. MORMONS CAN NOT THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!! Their leaders have no insight, no revelation, all they dio is repeat the same garbage they’ve been saying for years
