2nd President of the Church – Brigham Young – Served from 1847–1877
Journal of Discourses 1:51 “—if the Son was begotten by the Holy Ghost, it would be very dangerous to baptize and confirm females, and give the Holy Ghost to them, lest he should beget children…” – Brigham Young, Great Salt Lake City, April 9, 1852
Continuing on with our look at the prophets of Mormonism, today we’re checking out what the 2nd prophet/president had to say. This was one of the first statements I found right after leaving the Church and to say it shocked me would be an understatement. It literally took my breath away to think my own heritage would say something so awful about Jesus Christ. Equally alarming were some of the comments he made about the body of Christ. From John’s epistle, we can know Brigham’s rejection of other Christians, was a sign he was walking in darkness.

Christianity in Dense Darkness
Journal of Discourses 8:209 “The Devil has the mastery of the earth: he has corrupted it, and has corrupted the children of men. He has led them in evil until they are almost entirely ruined, and are so far from God that they neither know Him nor his influence, and have almost lost sight of everything that pertains to eternity. This darkness is more prevalent, more dense, among the people of Christendom, than it is among the heathen. They have lost sight of all that is great and glorious—of all principles that pertain to life eternal.” – Brigham Young, Salt Lake City, October 14, 1860
Good old Brigham. He once proclaimed that there were colonies of people living on the moon and on the sun.It seems like every time he spoke, something crazy and unholy would come out of his mouth. Despite all that, the church still named a university after this sinful man. I don’t know about you, but when I look at pictures of Brigham Young, I see something sinister in his eyes
