Hugh Nibley: A Consecrated Life, 361 “What the Mormons like best about their temples is the obligation of secrecy that exonerates them from ever having to speak, and hence to think, about what they have learned by the ordinances and teachings. So strict are they in observing the confidential nature of those teachings that they, for the most part, scrupulously avoid dropping so much as a hint to outsiders by putting any of them into practice.” — Hugh Nibley
Mark 4:22 “For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light.”
Ironically, one of the problems Israelites had with Jesus was their inability to understand what He was saying. He preached openly in the temple Jn 18:20, and said nothing secretly.
Why is it Mormons can’t take a page from Jesus’ example? Even their own historian chastised them for secret temple oaths.
Pray for those who are diligently spending time and money on these necromantic routines!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Nothing hidden which will not be revealed and no secret that will not come to light (Mark 4:22). So true that today, you can go online and view films of the Endowment Ceremony, taken by folks in attendance that just happened to have recording devices with them.
Personally, if I was in charge of the Mormon church, I would demand that these temple ceremonies be kept secret, not because there is anything holy or spiritual about them, but rather because of the nonsensical way in which the ceremonies are conducted. Non-Mormons view these ceremonies online and realize just how silly they really are. After that, they decide for themselves that joining the LDS Church is not something they would care to do.
First time I went to the temple, I felt very uneasy. I did not feel there was anything holy about the ceremonies. In fact, I felt just the opposite. During my tenure as a Mormon, I only went to the temple maybe a half dozen times. Mormons have always said that that Satan can not enter a Mormon temple because the spirit of God is so strong there (guess God has his good days and bad days). My question is, if Satan cannot enter the temple, then why all the security cameras and security personnel inside and outside the temple?
I always wondered why I had to use a locker when I took part in baptisms for the dead. If it’s so holy as you pointed out soldiermp, wouldn’t that mean there’s no chance of anything being stolen???
