October 30 – Symbols of Membership. Isaiah 45:22 “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”
_____
14th President of the Church — Howard William Hunter — Served from 1994–1995
The Lord expressly told us to look unto Him for salvation, and because of that, all believers rightly know they/we belong to Him – 1 Cor. 3:23. We can find great comfort in knowing the same message from God is unchanging, just as it was for the Israelites.
In the LDS reference today Mr. Hunter told members the temple is the symbol of their membership. However, tomorrow we’ll see how the next prophet had a different message for LDS members.
Beloved, how do you want to be remembered? Is it a Mormon building, or as a follower of Jesus?

“Look to the temple of the Lord as the great symbol of your membership.” — Howard Hunter, Ensign, Nov. 1994, 8.
I watched the LDS Temple Opening Ceremony for the Tucson Temple several years ago. One of the speakers was talking about salvation. He waved his temple recommend up, over his head and stated: “This temple recommend is the key to salvation.”. In other words, with a temple recommend and the saving ordinances performed inside, salvation is not possible.
Such poison spewing forth from the mouth of a church leader, especially when members are taught that every word that a church leader speaks should be considered scripture.
Like it says in Matthew 15:14: “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a ditch.”
Watch out church members. No need to follow leaders that can’t see. Turn to your Bibles for light and direction that leadeth to salvation.
