Achieving a Celestial Marriage, p. 132 “Celestial Marriage Makes Women Queens and Priestesses unto Their Husbands. “If righteous men have power through the gospel and its crowning ordinance of celestial marriage to become kings and priests to rule in exaltation forever, it follows that the women by their side (without whom they cannot attain exaltation) will be queens and priestesses. (Rev. 1:6; 5:10.) Exaltation grows out of the eternal union of a man and his wife. Of those whose marriage endures in eternity , the Lord says, ‘Then shall they be gods’ (D. & C. 132:20); that is, each of them, the man and the woman, will be a god. As such they will rule over their dominions forever.” (McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 613 .)” [emp. added]
Isaiah 43:10-11 “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. 11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
My, what a tangled web we weave…
In 2003, the Church updated their curriculum, ‘Achieving a Celestial Marriage’, and replaced it with ‘Eternal Marriage Student Manual’. Although it’s seen some changes, the overall message is still quite intact. It still leans heavily on godhood status, and becoming a ruler of your own kingdom.
One thing is for sure, in all the years I’ve been in ministry, I’ve never seen a time when the Church has referenced Isaiah 43 in anything. However, as we can see they have no problem using a verse here and there from Revelation out of context mind you, to suit their purposes. Here’s what it says in the two verses they used –
Revelation 1:6 “And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
Revelation 5:10 “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.”
Take note beloved, on how they misquoted God’s word! The Bible does not say women will be priestesses! The Lord clearly declares in His word that He alone is God, and there are no other gods. His word says there is neither male, nor female in the body of Christ (Gal. 3:28), and it also clearly states there are no marriages in heaven – Mark 12:24-25.
His word says we will be priests unto God which means we’ll be accountable to Him, and will be there to serve only Him. And finally, in Revelation 19:7-9 we read that we’ll be thanking, and honoring Him, for calling together the marriage to the Lamb.
The only marriage in heaven is the marriage of the bride (body of Christ), to the Bridegroom, who is none other than Christ Jesus, and Him crucified!
LDS teachings on this topic go beyond heresy.
What they’ve done is no different than dethroning, or ousting, the King.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
