February 8 – Obedience to Dietary Law Brings Salvation. “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days;” Col. 2:16
_____
When Jesus came to earth, He was the fulfillment of the Law. There’s no condemnation for those who are in Christ. If you’re truly saved, your outward behavior is a manifestation of your inner conversion, thus negating the need for more laws to follow. Obeying the ordinances of man doesn’t bring honor to God.

“Three types of things are prohibited to man by the Word of Wisdom—tobacco, strong drinks, and hot drinks…through the cleanliness resulting from keeping this law of health, and by ‘walking in obedience to the commandment’, the saints will qualify for the companionship of the Holy Spirit…” Mormon Doctrine, pp. 845-847
Also, the Word of Wisdom prohibits the eating of meat except in times of winter or bad harvest. Ever been to a Mormon Christmas party.? There is so much meat available at these gatherings as to feed an entire army. The Mormons pick and choose which of the Words of Wisdom to comply with. If you are going to deny me a Temple recommend because I admit to drinking coffee, what about all the other Temple Recommend holders that consume large amount of meat.?
Also, if the Word of Wisdom was created to keep a person’s body (Temple) healthy, then how come I see so many people going to the temple that are overweight and fat? Shouldn’t overeating and not exercising have any bearing on receiving a Temple Recommend?
