The Joseph Smith Revelations “#22. The text in the journal says that Smith also saw Michael in this vision. Prior to this time, it was taught that Michael was another name for Adam. Oliver Cowdery wrote in a letter in January 1834, “I have been in formed from a proper source that the Angel Michael is no less than our father Adam” (Cowdery to John Whitmer, 1 Jan. 1834, Oliver Cowdery Letterbook, 15, Henry E. Huntington Library, San Marino, California).” — by H. Michael Marquardt
Jeremiah 14:14 “Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets prophesy lies in my name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they prophesy unto you a false vision and divination, and a thing of nought, and the deceit of their heart.”
The title of our article today speaks volumes about the behavior of LDS leadership. Sadly they’ve changed this so-called ‘god-given-revelation’ numerous times, and have done so for one purpose. To confuse its membership.
In both the LDS Endowment Ceremony – The Creation, and Doctrine and Covenants 27:11, Adam and Michael are the same entity. However…
As we see in Mr. Marquardt’s reference above, they used to be separate entities. Moreover, this vision was originally part of D&C 137, but later removed. The number of switcheroos they’ve implemented is an eye-opener indeed.
It totally throws what Joseph Fielding Smith declared right out the window –
“Inspiration is discovered in the fact that each part, as it was revealed, dovetailed perfectly with what had come before. There was no need for eliminating, changing, or adjusting any part to make it fit; but each new revelation on doctrine and priesthood fitted in its place perfectly to complete the whole structure, as it had been prepared by the Master Builder.” — Doctrines of Salvation, Vol. 1, page 170.
With all the confusion, we pray members of the Church will turn to the real Jesus of the Bible for truth!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
There are a lot of confusing teachings in Mormonism. Which is what you’d expect of a cult cobbled together as Smith added to his teachings.
Amen to that brother!
