March 30 — Shaming the Innocent into Obedience. Psalm 71:24 “My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.”

LDS Leaders have a lot of explaining to do in light of Mr. Clark’s statement. Ask a Mormon how early leaders could live up to Clark’s doctrine, and fulfill their obligatory duties of polygamy. The truth is that they never lived up to their own standards. Their polygamous marriages never could have been legalized, and they knew it then, as they do now. Furthermore, mankind isn’t immortal.
Lastly, every Mormon understands not being a virgin at the time of marriage brings shame. What kind of good news is this?

Handbook of the Restoration, p. 596 “The Church has from the beginning demanded of its youth, male and female, one standard only, absolute continence until proper marriage has legalized and hallowed the sexual relations. To this there is no exception. I now repeat what I have said before:
Man is a biological unit, an animal, but he is more than this, he is the temple of an immortal spirit. That spirit can be defiled by the flesh and defilement comes when the laws of chastity are violated.
Our very civilization itself is based upon chastity, the sanctity of marriage and the holiness of the home. Destroy these and Christian man becomes a brute.” — J. Reuben Clark [emp. added]
I really hope that the celibacy until marriage view point is both honered and obeyed. However, I also believe it should be relooked. I have always believed in being celibate until married. The problem for me was, as a young man, I did not always follow what I believed. I had much respect for women that said no. Problem was, I often wanted to hang with the woman that said yes. This is the same situation that young men and boys have always found themselves to be in.
I do believe that couples should remain pure, despite what religion they are. I do not, however, believe it to be proper to scorn a person into submission; guilt trip them, like th church does..For example, 19 year old Mary and 22 year old Bob, both confess to the Bishop that they had sex. The Bishop scolds them, tells them they aren’t worthy to take sacrament for 6 months, relieves Mary of her position as primary teacher and Bob from his calling as Scount Master Assistant. Everybody in the ward now assumes the same thing (illicit sex) because of no sacrament taking and released from callings.
One of the reason Mormons get married so early is because of raging hormones. These 20-24 year old kids getting married, having kids early in life, all because the church told them to so..
Have you ever wondered how many single, middle aged, LDS church moms there are? Trust me, a lot. I worked as a Ward Employment Specialist for severa years. The number of SINGLE, UNTRAINED, ZERO RESUME, ZERO SKILLS MOMS, whose husband’s left them for younger women, was truly eye opening. Typically these women, as young 21 year old wives, worked while their husbands completed their degrees and went on to get great jobs. Meanwhile, the poor wife’s resume has but one word on it..”Housewife”
To all you young women out there, The Old sarge, says, get your education, work a few years on the job before you ever start a family. Build yourself a resume. Don’t think that just because you were married in the temple, that your husband is gonna be the forever faithful mate that you thought you married. Too many single, Mormon moms out there, with the heartache of working two unskilled labor jobs, just to support her 5 kids, whose dad abandoned them for another women. BE CAREFUL GIRLS!!
