‘Abstain from all appearance of evil.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:22
Thanks to Melissa’s hard work, we have another installment for our list of YouTube Videos! This time we’re looking at a number of quotes made by LDS leaders on the topic of chastity.
Their comments were directed toward LDS youth as reminders to keep themselves morally clean – even during rape. Their overblown, not to mention incorrect view of this, defies all logic.
Here are just two of the outlandish things they’ve said –
“I would rather follow her to the grave, and send her home pure, than suffer my daughter to be prostituted. I will not suffer any female member of my family to be polluted through the corruptions of wicked men.” — Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses 2:322
“Your virtue is worth more than your life. Please, young folk, preserve your virtue even if you lose your lives…” — Spencer W. Kimball, Miracle of Forgiveness, p. 61
To read more of their horrendous theories, see Virtue and Chastity.
Now the point to our posting of these things is quite simple.
It’s not to shame, or bash the Mormon people. It’s to inform, and ask the Mormon people if this is acceptable. If not, then it’s time to denounce these false teachers!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
It’s also very hypocritical seeing how prevalent incest and rape is within that Church!
So what happens if a girl is killed by a rapist, before she is raped…how does that work?
Whould Elizabeth Smart’s family rather she turned up dead? The only reason she is still alive is because her abducter Brian David Mitchell, was a self proclaimed Prophet, who still believes in plural marriage to be exalted to godhood. He had a mock sealing the very night she was abducted.
More proof of just how wicked these people are.
Brigham’s comments really got to me. How many kids did he have? Over 50, right? Probably half of those were girls. How in the check could he spend so much time looking after each and every one of them (daughters)? He couldn;t. That is why I take every word spoken by this man to be either untrue, ungodly, exaggerated or just plain evil
And those vaulted prophets in their early days, had many wives Many of those wives divorced their husbands. Didn’t the church have RULES about divorce then? It’s all such a complicated mess when one tries to outrun the Bible.
Thats one of the reason The Old Sarge left the church. Their doctrines were confusing, often times to even senior members. I quickly realized that member’s main objective was to prosper the Mormon church. Real service to God, not a priority. Foe example, tithing only counts when it goes to the church.Hospitals, orphanages, soup kitchenS, medical research etc, doesn’t count for much in the eyes of God,so says the LDS CHURCH
