Answers to Gospel Questions 4:27 ““Here he [Mormon] declares that it was soon after the Savior’s ascension into heaven that he appeared to the Nephites and Lamanites on this continent. And his ascension was the day of his resurrection after his appearance to Mary at the tomb, and before his appearance to the disciples that same day. “The reason why Mormon discontinued his account at this point is not stated.” — Joseph Fielding Smith, 1963
Acts 1:3 “To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God”.
Mr. Smith was referring to what it says in 3 Nephi chapters 8-11. Apparently, the BoM Jesus appeared to those in the Americas shortly after His ascension.
Our focus today isn’t so much about that falsehood as it is about Smith’s false prophecy that Jesus was resurrected, and ascended into heaven, all on the same day.
This false prophecy is an easy one to see, but make sure you show the Mormon you know what it says in the Bible!

A simple internet search will show that the third day is mentioned 8 times in the New Testament.
Matthew 16:22
Matthew 17:23
Matthew 20:19
Luke 9:22
Luke 13:32
Luke 24:21
Luke 24:46
1 Corinthians 15:4
The Bible (God’s Word) says Jesus rose the third day. If anyone comes along and preaches a different Gospel than what was already preached it’s to be rejected.
This isn’t an “Answer to Gospel Questions” it’s a lie. That is NOT the Gospel found in 1 Corinthians 15 1-4.
