Ensign, ‘Overcome Even as I Overcame’, May 1987 “Feasting upon the fulness of the gospel will help us to overcome. Additionally, if we will keep our covenants, the covenants will keep us spiritually safe.” — Neal A. Maxwell
Jude 24-25 “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
The two statements above can’t both be right.
When I read Mr. Maxwell’s comment I immediately thought of the passage in Jude. It happened to be one of the first things I came across after giving my heart to Jesus.
The passage in Jude tells us there’s nothing we can do for our salvation! It rightly places the credit squarely on One Person, that being Christ Jesus and Him crucified.
While it’s still today, make time to share this great news with the Mormon you know!

“If, in fact, Abraham was justified by works (covenants made by man), he had something to boast about (temple attendance, home teaching, church cleaning etc), but not before God. What does the scriptures day? Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness.”(Romans 4:1-3)
“David says the same thing when he speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God credits, apart from works.” (Romans 4:6)
The idea that Christ’s disciples have to work their way to heaven is without merit. What must we do to satisfy God as followers of his only begotten son, Jesus Christ? SIMPLE: “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments, hand all the law and the prophets.”
In other words, if you don’t love God and your neighbor, all the works the church asks you to do, don’t mean a thing.
