We retrieved the LDS reference above from their info page, which is basically an introduction explaining who they are, and what they believe. It used to be found on Mormon.org, but with Nelson’s orders to preface everything with the full name of their church, it has since changed.
Today we have a few questions about their info page –
If the Lord commanded them not to eat from the tree of knowledge, how could it be part of His plan for them to eat of it?
Why wasn’t living in perfect harmony with the Lord enough?
Why did they need to progress? By virtue of simply being alive, they were already gaining experience.
The text also says, ‘Sin is knowingly choosing to do wrong or not to do right’. This contradicts their past teachings when they’ve claimed sin, and transgression, aren’t the same thing. See posts on this topic at Transgression is Sin, Sin is not Transgression.
Lastly beloved, why would God want to be separated from His creation?
Why did he sanction sin, if sin is evil? Wouldn’t this mean their god is evil?

Why do church leaders have to explain to members what their purpose in life is? If church leaders were to encourage people to read their Bibles, they wouldn’t have to explain anything to the members of the Mormon community. Church leaders today, just like church leaders in the early days of the church, are counting on people not to read their scriptures. When people don’t immerse themselves in the scriptures, it is easy for church leaders to mislead them. Joe Smith, Brigham Young, Joseph F Smith, John Taylor, Wilfred Woodruff, Gordon Hinkley, Tom Monson and many other church authorities, have counted on people’s ignorance of the Bible to manipulate the preaching of God’s Word into whatever message they want. Furthermore, church members are told that word proceeding forth from the mouth of a Genera Authority, is to be considered scripture. Wow, what a deal. The church claims that Joe Smith or Brigham Young’s words are on the same level as God’s. To elevate their words to an even higher status, Joe Smith came up with Article 8 of the Articles of Faith, in which it says that the Bible can only be believed as much as it was correctly translated. Joe Smith , of course, had that covered as well, when he came up with the Joe Smith “correct” translation of the Bible.
Satan grab hold of people in many ways. The old devil can even manifest himself as an “Angel of Light”. Discourage people from eadin gthe Bible, influence the imaginations of people like Joe Smith, give them evil ideas and a desire to record (print) those ideas and you have the beginnings of a false church
