‘And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.’ Matthew 28:18
General Conference, ‘God Will Do Something Unimaginable’, October 2020 “We plead with Heavenly Father to comfort and console you. … God has something unimaginable in mind for you personally and the Church collectively—a marvelous work and a wonder.
We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet
Our best days are ahead of us, not behind us. This is why God gives us modern revelation! …What is needed during times of crisis is calm and clear-headed trust. How do we do this? We face the facts and return to the fundamentals, to the basic gospel principles, to what matters most. …listen for the guiding word of the Lord and His prophet to lead you to safety. Remember, this is the Church of Jesus Christ—He is at the helm…” — Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.”
Dieter Uchtdorf’s speech made their adoration of the LDS prophet very clear.
They’ve rejected Jesus’ declaration that He alone has all authority, and the statement in Hebrews telling us Jesus gives us direction.
Contrary to Mr. Uchtdorf’s statement, Jesus isn’t at the helm of the Mormon Church if they’re relying on their prophet to lead them to ‘safety’. As a reminder, Jesus said man can’t serve two masters – Matthew 6:24.
Oswald Chambers’ devotional gave a great reminder of this –—
“The Lord does not give me rules, He makes His standard very clear, and if my relationship to Him is that of love, I will do what He says without any hesitation. If I hesitate, it is because I love someone else in competition with him, viz., myself. Jesus Christ will not help me to obey Him, I must obey Him; and when I do obey Him, I fulfil my spiritual destiny.” — Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest, November 2.
Remember to pray for those who listened to this false apostle’s words, and share the truth with a Mormon today! To read Mr. Uchtdorf’s speech in full, see link above.
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Those verses in Hebrews were so helpful to me as I left the LDS church. Cult, nothing more. The church’s control over its people is so clear….even to telling them where to go to church based on their home address. God is not like that. He gave us His Word which tells us how to become Holy as Christ is Holy, period. In needing to hold on to control, the church must come up with pointless new rules and/or adjustments to their old rules. And Uchtdorf’s proclamation is ridiculous..the marvelous work is completed in Jesus. Sinners are saved by repentence and proclaiming that Jesus is the Messiah!
