TheChurchNews.com/General Conference Women’s Session “Summary points…
The First Presidency is concerned about the challenges women worldwide are facing. They love and pray for the women. …
Talk summary:
The Savior’s assurance to His Apostles is the message He gives to all of Heavenly Father’s children: “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). This message is repeated throughout scripture. …
Amid the present troubling circumstances many are facing, the Savior’s assurance is needed today. “The Lord has special love and concern for His precious daughters. He knows of your wants, your needs, and your fears. The Lord is all powerful. Trust Him.”
Opposition is an essential part of Heavenly Father’s plan for helping His children grow…
By following prophetic guidance, “The gates of hell shall not prevail” against the women of God. … There is “boundless power” in the doctrine of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ…
“By understanding and conforming our lives to that doctrine, including the divine gift of repentance, we can be of good cheer as we keep ourselves on the path toward our eternal destiny — reunion and exaltation with our loving Heavenly Parents.”” — Dallin Oaks
Galatians 1:6-9 “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”
The way Mr. Oaks phrased some of his remarks sound as if the leadership is a separate entity from the rest of the Church. Sadly, for people like my mother, it serves as another stumbling block in the way of knowing Jesus.
‘The First Presidency is concerned about the challenges women worldwide are facing. They love and pray for the women.’
If the scripture in John 16:33 is repeated throughout scripture as Mr. Oaks claimed, why haven’t they trusted it? By trusting, and conforming to the doctrines of the restored gospel, they’ve shown a complete rejection of Jesus.
Why did Mr. Oaks quote from Matthew 16:18 when the Church insists no one can trust the Bible?
“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
To read Mr. Oaks’ talk in full, see General Conference, ‘Be of Good Cheer’, October 2020.
Nothing in Mr. Oaks’ talk is comforting for those who want to know Jesus. His words lead people away from Christ, not to Him. Pray for Mormons to see through the façade of this man’s message!
Exhibiting true concern for the spiritual welfare of a Mormon can open doors of opportunity to share the truth about Jesus. Be sure to ask the Mormon you know for their opinion, about this, or any of the other talks given at General Conference!
With Love in Christ;
Michelle
Lift up the women, Mr. Oaks…so they don’t see the shackles around their feet.
