Moses 3:9 “And out of the ground made I, the Lord God, to grow every tree, naturally, that is pleasant to the sight of man; and man could behold it. And it became also a living soul. For it was spiritual in the day that I created it; for it remaineth in the sphere in which I, God, created it, yea, even all things which I prepared for the use of man; and man saw that it was good for food. And I, the Lord God, planted the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and also the tree of knowledge of good and evil.” [emp. added]
2 Nephi 2:23 “And they would have had no children; wherefore they would have remained in a state of innocence, having no joy, for they knew no misery; doing no good, for they knew no sin.” [emp. added]
Genesis 2:9 “And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.”
Foregoing Joseph Smith plagiarizing part of Genesis chapter two, the problem in the two LDS verses above is the contradiction they present.
If the tree God planted was pleasant for man as it says in the book of Moses, why would Nephi state that Adam and Eve wouldn’t have known joy?
This is another example of how Joe Smith went about writing ‘scripture’ to confuse people.
Ask the Mormon you know for their opinion about this, and be sure to let them know you’re praying for them!

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive. OTOH, why would the BoM be written in King James english? The BoM was supposedly a history of things in America long before 1611 when the KJV was published. It makes little sense. The BoM should sound like its own special language.
You’re spot on w/ that Miss Sandra!
Yeah…and why were the plates written in “reformed Egyptian”, when the people writing them were supposedly of Jewish heritage?! People are more comfortable writing something super important in there native language.
Also, God wasn’t too happy with the Egyptians because they were big time idolaters.
