November 27 — Jesus. Our Priest and King! Zechariah 6:12-13 “And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: 13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”
Hebrews 8:1 “Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.”_____
Priest and King … Zechariah prophesied about the Priest and King who would sit upon the throne and Hebrews showed how God fulfilled His promise to us through Jesus. King Darius (BC 550-486) was in charge during the days of Zechariah, ruled with an iron fist. He invaded and overthrew one province after another and by the time he was done, Aramaic had become the official language of his kingdom. His plan of earning the favor of the Israelites was a success by funding the rebuilding of the temple after its destruction during the Babylonian takeover.
Both Zechariah and the author of Hebrews painted a picture of a future king who will one day sit on the right hand of God, but this time the King would rule with peace, not violence. Ask the Mormon if they believe this prophecy was fulfilled. If they say yes, ask why, and show how our King and Priest fulfills both roles as ruler and priest. Why do they still have ordinances if King Jesus already took care of this for us?

[…] Jesus. Our Priest and King! […]
Jesus IS our only Priest and King FOREVER.
Hebrews 7:3
“Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God, abideth a priest continually.”
Today no one here on earth qualifies for this Priesthood but Jesus. Unless you have no beginning and no end, and no parents. Jesus is Melchizedek,. His Priesthood has never been passed on for these very reasons described in the book of Hebrews.
In Christ ALONE,
Melissa
