Zechariah 6:12-13 “And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: 13 Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.”

 November 21 — Have you been born again? Joel 2:28-32; “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.”

Mormon Terminology: Born Again

Like most topics in Mormonism, there’s not always a straightforward answer to the questions you may ask. Case in point is today’s topic, ‘born again’.

On June 19, 2018, we paid a visit to the LDS Gospel Topics section to look at born again, and the page came back with the following info; See Baptism; Conversion; Salvation.

We found the closest info for born again to be under the topic for conversion. Here’s what it said –

“Conversion includes a change in behavior, but it goes beyond behavior; it is a change in our very nature. It is such a significant change that the Lord and His prophets refer to it as a rebirth, a change of heart, and a baptism of fire. … Conversion is a process, not an event. Conversion comes as a result of righteous efforts to follow the Savior…”

On October 26, 2004 Truman Madsen, Emeritus BYU Professor, was the keynote speaker at one of BYU’s devotionals in Idaho. The name of his talk was ‘The Foundation of Temple Worship’.

PRE-EXISTENCE DOCTRINE


In John 3:1-15 we read Jesus saying: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”  LDS doctrine of the pre-existence creates a number of dilemmas in light of this teaching:
