General Conference, ‘The Things of My Soul’, October 2021 “Things of the soul are clarified and deepened by asking questions, preparing to hear promptings, lifting sights beyond the ways of the world and giving purpose to work in the gospel and life. These are some things of the soul: Love God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Savior. Love neighbors. Love one’s self. Keep the commandments. Always be temple worthy. Be joyful and cheerful. Follow God’s living prophet.” — Ronald Rasband
Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
Today we have a few questions about Mr. Rasband’s talk at General Conference —
1.Why is the Church telling people to ask questions? Historically the Church has been adamant you mustn’t question their authority.
2.Why should someone always be temple worthy when God’s word tells us His spirit resides inside the believer and we are the temple? See 1 Cor. 3:16, 1 Cor. 6:19.
By default, believers become temple worthy when they ask Jesus into their hearts!
3.How does someone ask questions if they’re told to follow the prophet?
4.How can LDS members follow the prophet and Jesus at the same time? His word clearly states you can’t serve two masters.
The directives in this man’s talk are so contrary to the Church’s m.o. and should serve as a strong warning there’s something seriously wrong here.
Please pray for this man and those who believed his lies!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
[…] Be Temple Worthy, Joyful, and Follow the Prophet […]
In John 3:19 Jesus tells us the temple would be destroyed, and HE would raise it up in 3 days. And when that happened the High Priest was no longer needed to intervene on our behalf. Gods’ Holy Spirit was poured out and resides In the hearts of all the believers, and continues to do so today.
The Bishop is not at liberty to decide who is “temple worthy”, why? Because he is not worthy. If someone hasn’t paid their tithe, they are not worthy. And that’s a problem, because that would be buying your way to the celestial kingdom… right?
Now a saved Christian is not worthy, we are only worthy through Christ’s righteousness. And once we realize this. A Christian has the equivalent of what is known in the LDS church as the 2nd Anointing. And with that maybe in the near future Michelle can touch on that.
Not worthy,
Melissa
