General Conference, ‘The Greatest Possession, October 2021 “For those who love God enough to try to be faithful to Him, He will give the ability, capacity, will and way to love one’s neighbors and themselves. I pray we will succeed where that rich young man failed, that we will take up the cross of Christ however demanding it may be regardless of the issue and regardless of the cost.” — Jeffrey R. Holland
1 Corinthians 2:11 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”
Matthew 22:36-40 “Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”
John 14:13-15 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. 15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.”
1 John 5:14-15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
Question for Mr. Holland –
Who determines if we’ve loved the Lord enough? As one of our visitors to the blog said not long ago how does someone without hands perform the signs at the temple? Does this mean they aren’t trying hard enough?
We’ve listed a handful of examples showing how Mr. Holland’s words were another attempt at trying to control members by laying a guilt trip they’re not doing enough.
There’s nothing in the Bible stating we have to love a certain amount before the Lord hears us. He knows we’ll never love Him as much as He loves us.
Please, pray for those who listened to this guy and for Jesus to intervene!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
[…] God Will Help If You Love Him Enough […]
Hold your musket fire Mr. Holland…what about your apostate neighbors? Do you treat them with the love you speak of?
Update, apparently the church will provide a proxy to do the signs and tokens for someone who needs it and that goes for the blind as well. A deaf person can request a ASL interpreter. It probably wasn’t this way before the ADA laws.
Wow, what a tangled web they weave…
Tangled web or a game of Twister? Either way, it’s a sad, sad evil thing that church continues to do.
[…] talks where LDS leaders have expressed the lie, we’ve seen here today. We posted on one back in February. The reason for looking at it again is to show how talks in the upcoming conference will be saying […]
