Gospel Standards, p. 36 “If we keep the commandments of God, He will love us, and the Savior will manifest Himself unto us. If we fail to keep the commandments of God, there is no promise made to us. The Savior said: “Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father, which is in heaven.” It is the keeping of the commandments of God that causes men to grow and to become strong and powerful in the Church and Kingdom of God. — CR, October, 1900: 36” — Heber J. Grant
1 John 4:19 “We love him, because he first loved us.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
Galatians 2:21 “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”
We’ve looked at numerous talks where LDS leaders have expressed the lie, we’ve seen here today. We posted on one back in February. The reason for looking at it again is to show how talks in the upcoming conference will be saying the same thing.
For now, let’s take a look at a few issues in Mr. Grant’s heretical theory —
1.God doesn’t love us because we do nice things. 1 John 4:19
2.The goal of every true believer is to do as Jesus said in Matthew 22:36-40 – love the Lord with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.
3.Believers aren’t to become strong and powerful in a church! What purpose does it serve doing this when Jesus said what He did in Matthew 22?
4.The Lord will never leave His flock even when we make mistakes. He already knows there will be mistakes made, hence, His death on the cross for our sins!
With the upcoming conference be sure to share these truths with the Mormon you know!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
