Journal of Discourses 6:214 “The Prosperity of the Saints Dependent Upon Their Being Right Before God … If we, as individuals, are right before God, all will go well with us and the Lord will prosper us. …
Obedience is the grand key whereby this people are to be exalted; and I sincerely believe that the Presidency are comforted by the obedience that is rendered to their requirements.” — Isaac Morley, Delivered in the Tabernacle, Great Salt Lake City, Sunday Morning, November 8, 1857.
Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
It seems there’s always a hidden agenda in the motives of the Church but this time around their message is loud and clear.
Money produces comfort and the way this is done is through the unquestioning loyalty of LDS members.
The LDS reference I came across last week reminded me of a similar comment they made when they said ‘a person who is impoverished temporally cannot blossom spiritually’. See Most Stupid Quote of All Time for more info.
Back then we wondered what they thought of Jesus. He was poor. Was He spiritually impoverished?
Our question today is this –
With members leaving in record numbers where do leaders find their comfort? If you’re leaving the Church, you certainly aren’t being obedient, nor will you hand over your wallet.
Ask the Mormon you know what they think about comments like the one mentioned here today and let them know how much Jesus loves them!
With Love in Christ —
Michelle
