Journal of Discourses 12:122 “The destruction of property and life during the war has been enormous…Why all this? They killed the Prophet. …
If they had hearkened to the counsel of Joseph Smith, this nation would have had no wars; there would have been no division in the Government, but it would have gone on in harmony and prosperity.” — Brigham Young, Tooele City, Utah, August 17, 1867
Deuteronomy 18:22 “When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.”
Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”
Is it remotely possible that Smith’s death is the cause of enormous deaths and destruction during the Civil War? Were the soldiers of the Civil War fighting because Smith was killed during a gunfight at Carthage?
My husband’s 3x great-grandfather fought in the Civil War and there’s nothing in the family records of him doing this because of Joseph Smith.
What are the chances of there not being any division if everyone had just heeded Joe Smith’s counsel?
Brigham’s words are nothing but fallacious lies. While this may seem like a random quote pulled from the basement of the Journal of Discourses it serves as an example of how their lies have built a foundation of falsehoods about Smith.
Ask the Mormon in your life if they believe Smith’s death caused the US to have wars.
With Love in Christ —

What ‘holy’ counsel did Joseph give that the United States failed to follow? Skip the wine, marry tons o’ women but don’t get caught, forego coffee, or believe everyting Joe uttered? Hmmmm.
Their lies immeasurable.
