Gospel Through the Ages, p. 13 “God provided the gift of the Holy Ghost as a means by which “a man may place himself in touch with the whole universe and draw knowledge from it, including the beings of superior intelligence that it contains.” The Spirit of God was also provided to serve with the Holy Ghost as another guide for man in helping him to establish communication with the Eternal Father.” — Milton Hunter
2 Corinthians 4:3-4 “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
We have a few questions/comments about the LDS quote above.
1.How does someone place themselves in touch with the whole universe by having the gift of the Holy Ghost?
2.How does someone ‘draw knowledge from it [the Holy Ghost], including the beings of superior intelligence that it contains’?
3.Who are the beings of superior intelligence?
4.Where in the Bible does it say the Spirit of God was also provided to serve with the Holy Ghost as another guide?
It sounds as if God’s Holy Spirit has somehow been relegated to a lower position in the Mormon godhead.
Since I’ve been in ministry the role of God’s HS has been one of the top issues new ex-Mormon Christians struggle with.
LDS teachings like the one today have served as another way to way to keep my people from knowing the true God of the Bible.
When you have the opportunity do share how the Lord’s Spirit operates and what He does for you personally!
With Love in Christ —
