Gospel Through the Ages, p. 13 “God provided the gift of the Holy Ghost as a means by which “a man may place himself in touch with the whole universe and draw knowledge from it, including the beings of superior intelligence that it contains.” The Spirit of God was also provided to serve with the Holy Ghost as another guide for man in helping him to establish communication with the Eternal Father.” — Milton Hunter (more…)

Why Mormons Can’t Observe Pentecost 2023
Posted in Holy Spirit, tagged blasphemy, Holy Spirit, joseph smith, Pentecost on 05/29/2023| 1 Comment »
Acts 2:1-4; “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
What’s the cost of observing Pentecost?
Imagine being a self-proclaimed Christian, and yet not knowing about most of the Jewish holidays, or the Christian holidays/observances listed in the Bible.
That scenario is reality for the majority of Mormons who’ve been strictly taught what they must do to be saved, and what church authorized books they can read.
I grew up in Utah Mormonism totally clueless about biblical events such as Good Friday, Pentecost, Passover, etc. Sadly, given my experience, I wasn’t alone.
I had never learned how God had mandated His chosen people, the Israelites, to attend seven feasts and festivals at specific times throughout the year, let alone knowing that each carried a specific meaning.
This is the crux of the many problems Mormon people face each day. They’re kept so busy with a laundry list of meaningless man-made rules, it leaves little time in the day to think of other things.
In short, those busy things serve as the answer to the title of our article today.

Holy Ghost Is a Man and a Son of God

Journal of Discourses 5:179 “The Spirit that is on me this morning is the Spirit of the Lord; it is the Holy Ghost, although some of you may not think that the Holy Ghost is ever cheerful Well, let me tell you, the Holy Ghost is a man; he is one of the sons of our Father and our God; and he is that man that stood next to Jesus Christ, just as I stand by brother Brigham. If brother Brigham goes ahead, and I stand by him, and Daniel stands by me, and the Twelve by us, we never shall be separated — never, no, never.
Men that are engaged in this work and kingdom, if they are one, they will he tied together, that they never will be separated, no more than two drops of water.” — Heber C. Kimball, delivered in the Bowery, Great Salt Lake City, Sunday morning, August 23, 1857. (more…)

Ensign, ‘Strengthen Home and Family’, November 2007, 12 “How can attending your meetings–particularly sacrament meeting–bless you and your family? Regularly partaking of the sacrament will help you keep your baptismal covenant. As you live worthily and renew this covenant weekly, you will qualify for the guidance of the Spirit. The Holy Ghost will guide you and will teach you what you should do to bless your family.” — Mary N. Cook (more…)
Worthiness Required for Holy Ghost

Liahona, ‘Grow into the Principle of Revelation’, January 2021 “Worthy to Receive Revelation … Refining our ability to recognize the whisperings of the Holy Ghost and increasing our capacity to receive revelation requires worthiness. Worthiness does not require perfection, but it requires that we strive for increased purity.
The Lord expects daily effort, daily improvement, daily repentance. Worthiness brings purity, and purity qualifies us for the Holy Ghost. As we take “the Holy Spirit for [our] guide” (Doctrine and Covenants 45:57), we qualify for personal revelation.” — Russell Nelson1 (more…)
Particles of Holy Spirit have Great Knowledge

Journal of Discourses 2:344-346 “The plain, simple Scriptural doctrine is that God’s Spirit is there, which is God in all His power and majesty. All those seemingly mysterious passages which the learned divines have applied to the person of the Father being omnipresent, have reference to that All-wise Spirit of which we have spoken. … that a person who believes and follows this as taught in the Book of Covenants, and the Book of Mormon, will never be confounded. … What influence will this have over a man who believes it? It will put him more upon his guard…when we know that the Holy Spirit is everywhere present, being combined with all matter then we have a correct understanding. (more…)
LDS: Holy Ghost Might be a Person
Posted in Holy Spirit, tagged false gods, Holy Spirit, Journal of Discourses 2:338, Orson Pratt on 02/25/2020| 1 Comment »
Journal of Discourses 2:338 “…where the personal pronoun is applied to the Spirit, as “He shall lead and guide you into all truth;” “he shall not speak of himself but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak;” and “he shall take of the things of the Father, and show them unto you.”
From these and many other passages of the same kind and bearing, we may draw the conclusion that the Holy Spirit is actually a person. Then, again, there are other revelations where the pronoun it is applied, such for instance as, “The Spirit itself maketh intercession with groanings that cannot be uttered.” And many other revelations convey the idea that the Spirit is a diffused substance. Just so in the Book of Mormon, we find many of those terms, and consequently we are left to our own conjecture respecting there being a personal Holy Spirit; but one thing is certain, whether there is personal Holy Spirit or not, there is an inexhaustible quantity of that Spirit that is not a person. This is revealed; this is a fact. And it is just as probable to my mind, that there should be a portion of it organized into a person, as that it should exist universally diffused among all the materials in space.
This Holy Spirit is all-wise, and in many of its attributes much like the Father and Son, and acts in concert with them. It governs and controls all things, and from this some might infer that it has the same knowledge and power as the Father and Son have.” — Orson Pratt, Great Salt Lake, February 18, 1855 (more…)

“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications…” Zechariah 12:10
God is a God of His word. You can know with 100% certainty when He says He’ll do something, it’ll be fulfilled. The problem many people have is a prideful heart unwilling to accept someone else is in charge. … And so it goes with my beloved heritage of Mormonism, and at one time, even myself.
This Christmas, take a few minutes to give a Mormon a great gift! Teach him/her how to rely upon God’s Holy Spirit by reading His word, sharing examples of what He’s personally done for you, and how He fulfilled the promises He made in the OT. The passage in Zechariah is a great tool to use when sharing how God works! (more…)
Plagiarisms and Disappearing Mormon Holy Ghost
Posted in Holy Spirit, tagged Bruce McConkie, Holy Ghost, leaves man, Mormon doctrine on 12/15/2018| 7 Comments »
Being in the throes of the Christmas season we can sometimes forget to slow down, and remember the reason why we’re so busy.
I was reminded of how chaotic things used to be and had to praise the Lord for what He’s done.
My life has done a 180° turnaround from the days of Mormonism. Gone are the years of wondering if I’ve been good enough for God to be with me.
Today I can pause knowing with 100% certainty, God’s Holy Spirit is there to comfort, and speak to me 24/7 because He lives inside of me. As a Mormon this wasn’t a reality, and it never entered my thoughts because I was always too busy with worries that beset me.
This dichotomy is overwhelming. It’s also what the Lord keeps reminding me of this week, so today and tomorrow we’re looking at Joseph Smith’s interpretation of the Holy Spirit. You’ll notice how they refer to God’s gift as ‘it’, or simply as the ‘Holy Ghost’, causing a great disconnect for the Mormon.
Mormon Doctrine, 681 “The Holy Ghost is a personage of Spirit, he constitutes the third person in the Trinity, the godhead. The gift or presentation of the Holy Ghost is the authoritative act of conferring him upon man.
The Holy Ghost in person may visit men, and will visit those who are worthy, and bear witness to their spirit of God and Christ, but may not tarry with them. * (more…)

I encourage those who are serious about knowing true Utah Mormonism to read their entire speech, and show the Mormon with demonstrative evidence, why God highly disagrees with all of it.
General Conference, ‘The Holy Ghost,’ April 1974, 90 “Jesus referred to the Holy Ghost as a male person. Speaking to his disciples, he said:
“… It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” (John 16:7. Italics added.) …
“That the [Holy Ghost] is capable of manifesting Himself in the form and figure of man,” wrote Dr. James E. Talmage, “is indicated by the wonderful interview between the Spirit and Nephi…” … (more…)

Today we’re looking at excerpts from a member of the early LDS Church; George Laub. He was a devoted follower, and his loyalty to Smith’s ideologies is unfortunately, all too apparent. You can find this excerpt at the link below, and also at George Laub’s Journal, Book of Abraham Project (BOAP), pp.16-17.

The Words of Joseph Smith, p. 382; “George Laub Journal. The Scripture Say I and my father are one & again that the father son & holy ghost are one I John 5 ch. 7 vers But these three agree in the Same thing & did the Saviour pray to the father.

John 14:17“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.”
My youngest daughter just graduated from university after a few years of hard work, and many hours of study! Her father and I couldn’t be more proud as you might imagine, and now we’re looking forward to seeing what Jesus has planned in her next phase of life.
One mainstay during her studies, was the consummate help she received from the student advisor. She was able to call, or drop in at his office whenever she needed insight as to what classes she should take in the upcoming semester, and what she should focus on to complete her degree. Without his help, she would’ve been in a world of hurt, as they say! He was certainly a blessing as he came alongside her at that time in her life.

Hebrews 13:5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”
Ensign, “Come, Follow Me”, November 2016; “Let us remember, the most important work we do in our families is through the power of the Holy Ghost. Whenever we raise our voices in anger, the Spirit leaves our companionships and families. When we speak in love, the Spirit can be with us. Let us remember that our children and grandchildren measure our love by how much devoted time we give them. Above all, don’t lose patience and don’t give up!” — Robert D. Hales
