THE PROPHET JOSEPH Essays on the Life and Mission of Joseph Smith, p. 343 “Joseph Smith has been referred to as possibly the greatest American who has lived to date.” — Richard Lloyd Anderson, 1988
Mark 12:29-30 “And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
Whatever happened to George Washington or Abraham Lincoln? We looked at some of the great events of the 19th Century a few days back and compared them to what the Church said about Smith’s vision being the greatest event.
Thirty-five years later we have another set of hierarchy stating Smith was the greatest American. They were grossly mistaken with our latest example just as they were in 1953. The book mentioned above was written by eighteen different LDS authorities. Each wrote an excerpt of why they thought Smith was all that and more.
They’d do themselves and their adherents a favor by proclaiming the truth! One can only imagine the impact they’d have if they were sharing the real gospel. Their real hero should be Jesus, NOT Joseph!
Pray for the Mormon people to do some homework!
With Love in Christ —
